Driving back to our hotel on our first evening in Yosemite, we passed this beautiful meadow in the middle of Yosemite Valley. The late afternoon sun was shining perfectly through the trees casting a golden glow in the grass and the sky was slowly getting pink, visible above the steep granite cliffs. The meadow was quiet, not another visitor in site, and I asked Michael to pull over so we could let our kids run through the meadow and take in the beauty.
We watched. They played. The kids walked along the old, fallen trees and played with the dried grass. Their golden hair bobbing in and out of the golden grasses. I couldn’t help but ran back to the car for my camera.
We drove home and watched the sun set beyond the cliffs, the sky becoming more and more crimson. It was such a beautiful day, we hardly minded the less-than-memorable pizza we ate for dinner that evening. : )
