Our new home — more photos

Our architect, Fiona Gibson, had the house photographed a few months ago for her website and recently shared them with me. I know we’ve already shared the photos of our home featured on The Design Files, but Fiona’s photographer, Natalie McComas, snapped a few more photos of rooms not featured before, specifically our ensuite bathroom, the laundry room, and some exterior shots. I thought I would share them here for any house renovation enthusiasts. πŸ™‚

It’s interesting seeing these photos now, as I can already tell the difference between then and now in terms of how lived-in our home has become. Shelves are fuller, there’s more art on the walls, the white walls are probably a little less white (!), and this house just feels more alive and loved and less like a newly renovated house. But I’m thankful to have these photos of our house in its newness!

    • Haha! It’s in our ensuite bathroom, and yes I do love it! It’s just hard to get a good photo of it. But I’ll try to snap a photo at some point to share! xx

    • Hi Katie,
We have a basement under the house where most of the toys and games are kept. The kids often go down there and play, which is nice because it keeps the house from getting too messy. Our house is small, so I’ve found that it’s best to keep it quite minimal or else it becomes a huge mess really quickly. Also, as I mentioned in the text, these photos were taken shortly after we moved in — it’s become much more lived-in and cluttered in the few months that have passed. πŸ™‚ x

    • The basement is still a work in progress, but I’ll try to snap some photos for you. We’re so thankful for that space because the kids are down there playing all the time (and I don’t have to stress about the mess!). xx

  1. Gorgeous! Although I admit I have been waiting with baited breath to see a photo of your pink en-suite shower. After seeing your Insta stories we ended up choosing pale pink tiles for a bathroom renovation we’re doing. Completely different tiles (glass mosaic) but I’m excited to see other pink bathrooms none the less!

      • Hi Courtney, would you mind sharing the name of the white paint you used on the walls? Feeling very confused by all of the choices! The paint you have used looks great and fresh πŸ™‚

  2. You did such an incredible job Courtney! Sets my mind and soul at ease…. such simple, thoughtful and beautiful craftsmanship in everything. So inspiring, would love love loooove to see more!!! xx

  3. Hi Courtney, would you mind sharing the colour of your white paint? I’m having a monster of a time trying to choose the right white for our new home!

    • Hi Louise,
I remember those hard decisions! It kept me up at night!!
We ended up choosing ‘Natural White’ by Dulux for the walls and ‘Vivid White’ for the ceilings. We found the Natural White to be a nice, warm white that really works in this old home. But it totally depends on your home, the floors, how much light comes through the windows, how high the ceilings are, etc. etc. A friend of mine told me she always uses ‘Vivid White’ on her walls (and her home is beautiful!), but when I tried Vivid White on our walls, it looked way too bright.
Anyway, I hope that helps! xx

  4. Hi Courtney! Your home (and family) are such a dream!! We are moving soon and I would love to do built in bunk beds like you have for your girls! Any suggestions of where to find a good design?

    • Hi Kate,
      Thanks for your comment.
We just created our own design, based on a few different photos I spotted on Instagram. I sort of took elements of a few different designs and incorporated them into our own space, and worked with a team of builders to come up with the design. Sorry I can’t direct you to one design we used. x

  5. Hi Courtney- These pics are beautiful! Wondering if you used unlaquered/polished brass for all of your faucets or antique/brushed gold? Do you have links to the faucets you chose? Thanks!

  6. Hi Courtney, more questions! Your dining table looks lovely, was that a local find or something I might find in Sydney?? Thx Kate x

    • Hi Kate,
We bought the table from West Elm two years ago. It was made with sustainably sourced wood, which we liked. It’s expandable with a middle leaf, which we always have in it because we need the big size. Hope that helps. Maybe they still sell it? xx

  7. Your home is beautiful Courtney. I’ve admired your interior style for a while – always so fresh and welcoming. Lovely xx
